Oily Scalp Remedy

Understanding The Scalp

Our scalp much like our gut has its own microbiome comprised of bacteria, fungus, and parasites that live on the surface of your scalp. This microbiome is properly regulated and nourished by our sebum. Our natural oils (sebum) and our microbiome work together to protect the scalp from the outside world, which means that keeping it in balance is critical to your overall hair health.

Stop Over Cleansing

When we shampoo too frequently we are over stimulating the sebaceous glands as well as stripping our natural microbiome. When disrupt this delicate ecosystem we can cause the over production of oil as well as many other scalp issues.

Creating new rituals and including products such as scalp oils will help you reap amazing healing benefits allowing you to nourish your scalp and regulate your oil production. The healthier the scalp is the higher quality hair you will produce. When we care for the scalp we can better achieve ultimate hair happiness.

Why use oil?

Applying oil to the scalp helps feed the healthy bacteria and assists in protecting the scalp. The scalps needs to be gently cleansed, moisturised and exfoliated periodically to support hair health. Oils are a great treatment that can gently do all of these things without disrupting your natural mircrobiome.

When we use oils prior to cleansing our hair they can help deeply cleanse the skin without stripping it of all of its essential moisture that it needs. This will help assist in lowering your oil production since it is not disrupting the delicate balance of the microbiome.

"like attracts like,"

Oil is perfect for removing dirt, grime, pollution, product build-up, and excess oil. It binds to all of these clogging substances and more, so it's easy to remove without stripping the scalp, thus making your oil production lower.

Apply your nourishing hair oils 8 hours prior to shampooing the hair 1-2 times a week. This allows for the scalp to be deeply nourished and will aid in cleansing. When we use this treatment prior to shampooing it allows the shampoo to do a better job at removing grime and dirt without stripping the hair. When the scalp is deeply but gently cleansed you will feel the need to cleanse less giving your scalp the ability to better regulate its oil production. Goodbye greasy hair!
